Finance Minister, J.P Morgan Discuss Investment Opportunities

Islamabad, 4 September 2024 (TDI): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday held a meeting with a delegation of international investors to discuss extending investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Amin Mohammad Khowaja, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of J.P. Morgan Pakistan led the high-level delegation that explored fixed-income investment opportunities in the country, according to a statement from the Finance Division in a statement.

“The discussions covered a range of potential investment areas, including renewable energy, information technology, infrastructure development, and the financial sector,” the statement added.

According to the Finance Division, the investors group termed Pakistan “a market with immense potential due to its strategic location as a gateway to regional markets” and that foreign investors were keen on exploring investment opportunities in various sectors.

The finance minister assured full cooperation of the government in this regard, saying the investors willing to contribute to the country’s economic growth will be fully facilitated.

Aurangzeb apprised the delegation of the improving economic situation of the country, including the 14% increase in exports, a decline in consumer price inflation (CPI) from 11 percent to 9.6 percent in August 2024, and an overall decline in the Current Account deficit.

“The international rating agencies have also improved Pakistan’s improvement in Pakistan’s sovereign credit ratings due to the government’s measures to improve the economy,” Aurangzeb said.

“The country’s economic growth is underpinned by robust fiscal discipline, inflation management, and a favourable balance of payments,” he added.
