Beijing, 26 August 2022 (TDI): The 5th forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation took place in Beijing on Thursday. The event was organized in a combined online and offline mode. Delegates from both sides agreed to further strengthen media cooperation.

The theme of the Forum is “New Vision, New Development, New Cooperation”. Moreover, 240 delegates from government institutions, media, audio-video enterprises, diplomatic missions from China, 42 African countries, AU commission attended the event.

Agenda of the Forum

The Forum’s agenda is to facilitate dialogue and cooperation between Chinese and African media. Additionally, it plays an active role in promoting exchanges of civilizations and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Africa.

Huang Kunming, Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a member of the Political Bureau of the (CPC) Central Committee, and Ibrahima Sory Sylla, the Ambassador of Senegal to China, read the congratulatory letters from the Presidents of China and Senegal to the forum.

Furthermore, the President of China, Xi Jinping, called on the Chinese and African media to tell stories about China-Africa cooperation in the new era and promulgate common values of all humanity.

China and African countries are a community with a shared future that goes through thick and thin together. President Xi Jinping said, “Media of both sides shoulder major responsibilities regarding enhancing mutual trust and cooperation, upholding world peace and promoting global development.”

Moreover, a few African Ministers and diplomats also shared their thoughts on the significance of China-Africa Media Cooperation during the event.

The forum provides a platform for cooperation. In addition, it focuses on issues of common concerns and mutual benefits for vibrant Sino-African relations.
