New York, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign and European Affairs Minister Jean Asselborn took part in the ministerial week of the 76th United Nations General Assembly session in New York this September 21.
Asselborn participated in a virtual meeting on the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) with the theme “the responsibility to protect and the role of women and girls in preventing atrocities.”
In particular, women and girls are affected in many conflict situations. Wai Wai Nu, a former political prisoner in Myanmar and a human rights activist, is a notable testimony in the meeting.
Thus, this issue is essential to address while highlighting the role of women in preventing and responding to this atrocious crime.
