EU condemns Kabul attack

Brussels, 27 August 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, two bomb attacks took place at the gate of Kabul international airport.

Around 13 US soldiers and dozens of Afghan civilians were killed and many were severely wounded.

ISIS-K took responsibility for the attacks.

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell Fontelles expressed his condolences to the victims of the Kabul airport attack. He also termed these attacks as the cowardness of the terrorist and asserted that they will continue to fight against terrorism with the help of international partners. Josep Borrell Fontelles also showed solidarity with the USA for losing military personnel working for the protection and evacuation of people in Kabul.

Van der Bellen, French President Emmanuel Macron, Danish PM Mette Frederiksen, Latvian FM Edgars Rinkēvičs, German FM Hieko Maas, FM Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković, Dutch FM Sigrid Kaag, Albanian FM Olta Xhaçka, Belgian FM Sophie Wilmès, Czeck FM Jakub Kulhanek, Swiss FM Ignazio Cassis, and Polish FM Zbigniew Rau also condemned the attack.
