Peshawar, 14 March 2023 (TDI): The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Pakistan, Riina Kionka visited the Center of excellence and Refugee centers in Peshawar and Haripur.

She expressed the EU’s commitment and support to the initiative of mutual interests in Pakistan. Riina Kionka visited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Peshawar.

The institute showcased training in beauticians, stitching, computerized numerical control, and solar energy.

She appreciated the commendable efforts of the vocational center and reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

She viewed the work with great enthusiasm and underlined the EU’s commitment to promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Pakistan.

The European Union, for more than a decade, has been proudly supporting skilled young people in Pakistan and will continue to do so.

She stated that the future of Pakistan lies in its youth’s hands and skilled young people are the vanguard in a skilled economy.

The Ambassador also met Afghan refugee students in Haripur. She highlighted Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to generously hosting Afghan refugees for four decades.

Ambassador Riina hailed the close collaboration of the EU with the United Nations refugee agency and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government for relief missions for refugees in the KPK province.

The United Nations High Commissioner (UNHCR) alongside Pakistan host communities is working meticulously for a sustainable future for Afghan refugees with funded interventions from the EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid in Peshawar.

Health and education are fundamental rights for all. The UNHRC Pakistan, the EU, and governmental authorities in Pakistan are ensuring providing these rights and assistance to the refugees.

The EU ambassador’s eye witnessed the immediate impacts of serviceable initiatives including access to health, educational services, water sanitation, and support to vulnerable groups.

She called for continued cooperation between the EU and Pakistan in multifarious sectors for a bright future for all communities in Pakistan.
