Addis Ababa, 9 May 2023 (TDI): The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry announced that Ethiopian Airlines has launched new direct flights between Addis Ababa and Karachi.

The first flight from Addis Ababa received a warm welcome from Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah upon arrival at Karachi International Airport.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia tweeted that State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Ambbasador Mesganu Arga and high-level government officials boarded the flight for Karachi.

The resumption of direct flights between Addis Ababa and Karachi after two decades will connect Ethiopia with South East Asia and also highlights the strengthening of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia. Both countries are working on boosting trade and investment ties.

State Minister Mesganu Arga Moach tweeted that direct flights between Addis Ababa and Karachi would boost tourism, trade, and investment.

According to Ethiopian Airlines, Karachi is the 37th destination of the Airlines in Asia and will connect Addis Ababa with Karachi four times a week.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker, thanked the media persons and the Karachi Press Club for giving massive coverage to his press conference on the inauguration of Ethiopian Airlines.

He said that high-level officials and official business delegations will visit Pakistan to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
