ISLAMABAD, (TDI): Ethiopian Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker has been honoured with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of his outstanding efforts in strengthening diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The Diplomatic Insight, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, awarded the Ambassador with the 6th Global Ambassador Award for his groundbreaking contributions to bringing the two nations closer together at bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums within a short period of time.
The 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony 2024 took place in Islamabad, with the presence of Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media, and civil society members.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a seasoned diplomat. His groundbreaking efforts at the Ethiopian missions in Australia, Bahrain, and Pakistan have been highly acknowledged at the official level.
Ambassador Jemal Beker has already received several notable recognitions, including the Best Ambassador Award from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Peace Award from the National Peace and Justice Council of Pakistan, and the COMSTECH Award for strengthening bilateral ties.

Some of the key initiatives he has spearheaded include the launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Karachi, the mobilization of two 80-member trade delegations to Ethiopia, and a 50-member trade delegation to Pakistan.
He has also played a pivotal role in signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) between the two countries in areas such as commerce, trade, health, and science and technology.
Furthermore, the launch of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative, an afforestation campaign spearheaded by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed for food security, in Pakistan stands as another significant achievement under his leadership.
Above all, Dr. Jemal Beker has worked tirelessly to bring together the two nations—Ethiopia and Pakistan—enhancing government-to-government, people-to-people, and business-to-business relations.
His efforts span all segments of society, advancing mutual and collective interests for greater cooperation. Indeed, this award will mark a new chapter in the already flourishing Ethiopia-Pakistan relationship.
