Ethiopian Delegation visiting Pakistan to enhance bilateral ties

Islamabad, 8 May 2023 (TDI): In an effort to strengthen bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan, a delegation led by the Ethiopian Minister of State (MoS) for Foreign Affairs, Misganu Arega, will be visiting Pakistan from the 9th to the 11th of May, 2023.

The delegation will consist of key ministers from the Ethiopian government, including Ministers of State for Science & Innovation and Trade & Regional Integration, as well as prominent members of the business community.

One of the major highlights of the visit will be the opening of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, which will be inaugurated by the Ethiopian MoS for Foreign Affairs and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar.

Additionally, Ethiopian Airlines will launch direct flights between Karachi and Addis Ababa, which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Ethiopian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, the Ethiopian delegation will hold discussions with their Pakistani counterparts on a range of issues of mutual interest, with a particular focus on trade and cooperation in science and technology.

The discussions are expected to provide a fresh impetus to the already friendly relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan.

This visit presents a unique opportunity for both countries to strengthen their economic and diplomatic ties and explore new avenues for cooperation in various fields.

Bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan

Ethiopia and Pakistan have maintained friendly relations for several decades, with cooperation between the two countries taking place in various fields, including trade, education, and culture.

The two nations have a shared history of colonialism and struggle for independence, which has further strengthened their ties.

In recent years, both countries have made efforts to enhance their bilateral ties. Pakistan has expressed its interest in exploring investment opportunities in Ethiopia, particularly in the agriculture and energy sectors. Additionally, the two countries have signed several agreements for cooperation in the fields of education, science, and technology.

The relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan will continue to be strengthened with the Ethiopian MoS visit to Pakistan, as both countries committed to deepening their relationship in various areas of mutual interest.
