Ethiopian Ambassador Praises Green Pakistan Program

ISLAMABAD 31 August 2024: Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Jemal Beker Abdullah, addressed a ceremony organized by Green Legacy in Islamabad, stating that today marks a historic day where we have gathered with the media to work together to protect the environment.

He emphasized that the future of the nation lies in the hands of the youth, and their role in Pakistan’s development is crucial.

Ambassador Abdullah highlighted the need for collective action against global challenges like environmental change.

He praised the Green and Clean campaign launched in Margalla Hills as a significant step towards improvement. He shared that when he arrived in Pakistan, the country was severely affected by climate change.

The Ethiopian Ambassador stated that environmental change is a global threat, and Ethiopia has initiated the Green Legacy initiative to combat it.

He mentioned that Ethiopia is exchanging experiences with Pakistan to tackle environmental change.

He proudly shared that 600 million trees are being planted in Ethiopia, creating jobs and ensuring food security under the Green Legacy program.

Ambassador Abdullah announced that parks will be opened to promote brotherhood between Ethiopia and Pakistan.

He mentioned that trees have been planted in major Pakistani cities like Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi under the Green Legacy program.

He hailed the Green Legacy initiative as a beacon of hope and acknowledged the global recognition of the Green Pakistan program.

The Ambassador concluded by stating that Ethiopia is committed to strengthening environmental cooperation with Pakistan.

He expressed his optimism about the future of environmental protection in both countries, emphasizing the importance of collective action to address global challenges like climate change.
