Lahore (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday received a telephone call from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkiye, who conveyed heartfelt condolences over the devastating floods across Pakistan.
President Erdogan expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan on the loss of lives and property, assuring that Turkiye stood ready to extend all possible support, including rescue and relief assistance.
The Prime Minister thanked President Erdogan for his kind sentiments and generous offer of help, noting that the call reflected the strong, deep-rooted and fraternal ties between the two brotherly nations.
Both leaders also recalled their recent interactions earlier this year and expressed eagerness to meet again on the sidelines of the upcoming SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.

Pakistan has been grappling with torrential rains and flash floods that have inundated large swathes of farmland, displaced thousands of families, and damaged critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges.
Authorities and rescue teams are engaged in large-scale evacuation and relief operations.

Experts warn that the scale of devastation could further strain Pakistan’s economy, which is already reeling from inflation and energy shortages.
Climate change has been cited as a key factor intensifying the frequency and severity of such weather-related disasters in the country.
