Washington (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has called on Consul Generals and Trade Officers to find out trade potential at the state level and strengthen connections with the Pakistani community.
Addressing a day-long conference at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington D.C. on Monday, he underscored the importance of leveraging the Pakistani diaspora as a key asset in enhancing Pak-US relations.
The Consul Generals from Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York as well as trade and commercial officers participated in the conference.
Key Issues
The conference discussed key issues including community engagement, improved services delivery, consular services and to explore ways and means for improving economic relations with the US.
The envoy stressed the need for better outreach to resolve issues faced by the Pakistani community in the U.S.
He highlighted recent government initiatives aimed at simplifying the visa process for businesses and tourists, urging that these changes be widely communicated to maximize their benefits.
The session explored ways to boost bilateral trade by connecting Pakistani products with US markets and attracting investment.
Trade Officers shared updates on efforts to introduce Pakistani goods to American consumers and create business linkages.
Sheikh emphasized the necessity of understanding and addressing the specific trade requirements of each US state.

The goal is to match these needs with corresponding sectors in Pakistan, potentially fostering new economic opportunities.
