A documentary titled “Welcome Bangabandhu (1973)” was screened at the Foreign Service Academy of Dhaka to commemorate historic visit of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Japan

Dhaka, 24 August 2022: A documentary titled “Welcome Bangabandhu (1973)” was screened at the Foreign Service Academy of Dhaka on Wednesday to commemorate the historic day when the Father of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, visited Japan from 18 to 24 October 1973.

The Embassy of Japan in Dhaka and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly organized the screening.

 

The Japanese Government-made documentary was screened by the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.

It was done to pay heartfelt respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the 50th anniversary year of the Japan-Bangladesh bilateral ties.

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Abdul Momen, joined the event as the Chief Guest. While the State Minister for External Affairs, Shahriar Alam, joined as the Special Guest at the Foreign Service Academy, Dhaka.

Ambassador of Japan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Ito Naoki, Foreign Secretary, Ambassadors, and many other senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.

In addition, the Japanese community living in Bangladesh, students from the Department of Japanese Studies of Dhaka University, and journalists also joined the screening event.

 Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister’s remarks:

Foreign Minister Dr. Momen highlighted the importance of Mujeeb Ur Rehman’s visit to Japan in 1973 in enhancing today’s good bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.

He also credited the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, for forging deep bonds of friendship between Japan and Bangladesh by lifting the relationship to the “Comprehensive Friendship” level.

The Foreign Minister also mentioned the Bangladesh Government’s effort to work closely with the Government of Japan to catalyze the existing bilateral friendship to a new level.

Moreover, he mentioned that Japan has proved to be a true partner in fulfilling the nation’s vision of turning Bangladesh into a country like Japan.

State Minister’s Remarks:

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Shahriar Alam, highlighted the significance of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujeeb’s historic visit to Japan which started the legacy of a lasting and steadfast friendship between the two countries.

He also took into account Japan’s coordination in almost all socio-economic sectors of Bangladesh. The State Minister also hoped that Japan would stand along with Bangladesh in realizing its effort to become a prosperous nation.

Japan’s Ambassador’s remarks:

The Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, Ito Naoki, talked about the influence of Sheikh Mujeeb’s historic visit to Japan that fostered time-tested fastest Japan-Bangladesh relations.

At last, the Ambassador of Japan handed over a photo album containing 50 photos of the historic visit of Sheikh Mujeeb in 1973.
