Eid Miladun Nabi 2024: Govt Announces Public Holiday on Sept 17

Islamabad, 6 September 2024 (TDI): The federal government has announced a public holiday on September 17 on account of Eid Miladun Nabi, the birth of the Holy Prophet Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH).

A notification to this effect was issued from the Cabinet Division on Friday (today). It said that all schools, colleges, and public and private offices will remain closed on Tuesday, Sept 17.

On Wednesday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held a meeting to see the crescent moon for the lunar month of Rabiul Awwal. The committee later announced that the moon was not sighted that evening and that the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 17.

Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal — the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
