Baku, 28 February 2022 (TDI): Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Mashat paid an official visit to Azerbaijan. She held meetings with several Azerbaijani officials.

During the meetings, she discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. The focus of the visit is on economic and trade cooperation between Egypt and Azerbaijan.

Egyptian Minister and Azerbaijani Prime Minister Meeting 

Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, met with Ali Asadov, the Azerbaijani Prime Minister. The two officials met as a part of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.

During the meeting, the Azerbaijani Minister expressed Azerbaijan’s pride in the Egyptian-Azerbaijani mutually beneficial relations in multifarious domains.

Azerbaijani Prime Minister said, “We are proud of our relationship with the Arab Republic of Egypt and we seek to consolidate cooperation in light of the developments taking place during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi”.

Moreover, the Azerbaijani Prime Minister commended the economic and infrastructure reforms of the Egyptian government. Egyptian Minister Rania Mashat thanked Azerbaijani Minister for the warm reception in Azerbaijan.

She briefed the government efforts in areas of new cities, renewable energies, rural development, and agriculture. Likewise, these areas allow enhancing Egypt’s cooperation with friendly countries.

Moreover, she described the Egyptian efforts to enhance cooperation among African countries. Egyptian efforts aim to achieve continental integration as per African Free Trade Agreement.

5th session of Egyptian-Azerbaijani Committee for Economic, Scientific & Technical Cooperation

Minister Rania Al Mashat also attended the fifth session of the Egyptian Azarian Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. Likewise, she met with Mikhail Jabarov, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy.

Both discussed areas of joint work and enhancing economic relations between both countries. Similarly, both sides agreed to increase the volume of investment and trade between Azerbaijan and Egypt.

In addition, Rania Mashaat also offered Egyptian help for oil and gas exploration in Azerbaijan. Moreover, officials of both countries signed various coordination agreements between the two countries.

Likewise, both sides signed various Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs). These include MOU on the Establishment of the Egyptian Business Council, Cooperation between the Port of Alexandria in the Arab Republic, and the Port of Baku.
