Islamabad (TDI): Egypt’s National Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Islamabad’s Serena Hotel, where diplomats, government officials, and representatives of civil society came together to celebrate with the Egyptian Embassy.
The Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, received the guests and highlighted the historically strong relations between Egypt and Pakistan.
The Chief Guest was Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Food Security, who led the ceremony alongside the Ambassador.
The ceremony featured speeches, cultural displays, and a mandatory cake-cutting to symbolize the strong friendship between the two countries.
In his address, Minister Tanveer Hussain described Egypt as a great friend of Pakistan in the Muslim world. He said that both countries should collaborate in defense, agriculture, and in particular food security.

Ambassador Abdelhamid, in turn, thanked the Government of Pakistan and its people for continued hospitality and support. He added that Egypt is keenly interested in expanding relations with Pakistan in all aspects, including cooperation in renewable energy, technology, and education.
Guests were amused with live Egyptian music, food, and folk performances. The ambassador also showcased future projects, including cultural festivals and student exchanges, to promote greater personal contact between people.
Pakistan and Egypt have long supported each other’s stance at forums like the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Both countries established diplomatic relations in 1951.
Over the years, they have cooperated in areas like trade, education, defense, and culture. More recently, both countries have focused more on agriculture, textiles, and technology.
Every year Egypt welcomes a large number of Pakistani students for higher studies to study at Al-Azhar University, one of the world’s most respected institutions for Islamic studies.
