Luanda, 7 June 2023 (TDI): President Fattah Al-Sisi met President João Lourenço on a 2 day visit in Luanda. This visit is a part of his tour of South African Countries to improve diplomatic relations and strengthen economic ties.
Many agreements were signed during the meeting by the representatives. Housing, security, energy, infrastructure, tourism, and exchanging information were also discussed.
Future collaboration was also considered in developing fields such as cybersecurity and pharmaceuticals.
Bilateral Cooperation
Egypt had recognized Angola since its independence in 1975, but the relationship started to boost after 2009 as many Angolan Officials attended major international meetings in Egypt.
After this, everything is going favorably for both countries. On various occasions, Egyptian officials visited Angola or participated in meetings in Luanda and vice versa.
Multiple memorandums of understanding aviation, scientific, health, technical, and agricultural cooperation have been signed. Which will increase the partnership between the two states.
Way to Development
During this meeting, President Lourenço signaled future support for policies and development in the construction and housing projects of President Sisi.
They considered the river Nile as the mean to unite and highlighted that the river Nile belongs to Africa and will not let anyone dominate the river.
President Lourenço applauded the construction of Egypt’s new Capital. He also recognized the skill of Egyptian civil engineers.

A meeting is also being organized by the Embassy of Angola in Egypt to help create a connection between investors of both countries and to increase Intra-African cooperation.
They also discussed the never-ending conflict in Sudan and Libya and stressed ending the war. This war has resulted in almost 200,000 people entering Egypt as refugees.
Both leaders have been coordinating to end this bad blood in Africa. President Sisi also asked for peace dialogues in Sudan, as the conflict has already impacted Egypt.
