Islamabad, 10 August 2022 (TDI): The bilateral ties between Pakistan and the Netherlands have always been up to the mark and Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 has been the year of consistent economic growth for Pakistan and the Netherlands.

Pakistan-Netherlands bilateral trade crossed US $ 2.3 Billion, with a trade balance of $ 1.17 Billion in favor of Pakistan. The exports of Pakistan to the Netherlands reached an all-time high of $1.74 Billion in FY 2022.

Pakistan and the Netherlands have always enjoyed excellent relations, which were based on mutual respect, trust, and common interests. Strong trade and investment cooperation have always been important components of Pakistan-Netherlands bilateral relations.

Since the scheme’s debut in 2014, Pakistani exports to the Netherlands have grown by 103%, and Dutch exports to Pakistan have climbed by 107%, making the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) Plus a good model and success story of mutually beneficial collaboration.

Dutch companies are invited from time to time to explore business opportunities in Pakistan in agriculture, dairy, water management, maritime and clean energy.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan, Wouter Plomp, said farewell to his colleagues after his 3-year long tenure in Pakistan, on August 8.

The Ambassador always discussed the ways to enhance trade and investment relations in agriculture, dairy, livestock, and poultry sectors with ministers of Pakistan.

Dairy and Cheese Mission

A trade delegation comprising 9 Pakistani companies participated in the Dairy and Cheese Mission to the Netherlands. The aim was to gain knowledge and techniques on Dutch cheese and dairy processing as Pakistani companies are diversifying into cheese processing and production.

The Netherlands Embassy in Pakistan always supported initiatives that seek to raise the voice of the marginalized groups, uplift the economic position of religious minorities, and provide legal aid and assistance to destitute women and female prisoners.
