Islamabad (TDI): Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan Dr Jemal Beker Abdula on Thursday hailed the government’s “Uraan Pakistan” initiative.
The ambassador made these remarks during a meeting with Federal Minister for Planning & Development Ahsan Iqbal in a meeting in Islamabad.
The five-year programme, which aims to boost economic growth and prosperity, is the PML-N government’s flagship project.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed areas of mutual interest, including enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries.

The Ambassador highlighted the significant progress Ethiopia has made under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed and the Prosperity Party. He shared how reforms in politics, economics, and society have transformed Ethiopia, strengthening its democracy and economy.
“Ethiopia’s home-grown economic reforms have addressed economic challenges, boosted domestic production, and attracted foreign investment, creating more jobs and contributing to consistent economic growth,” he stated.
Dr Jemal noted that both Ethiopia and Pakistan could benefit from one another’s experiences and improve their trade and investment ties.

He also invited Iqbal to attend Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in May 2025.
“The FDR Ethiopia is one of the success stories in Africa which has turned around the economy via pluralistic economic policies, the Minister noted while terming Ethiopia a beacon of wealth in Africa,” he added.
