Istanbul, 3 September 2024 (TDI): Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, has expressed optimism about improvements in Kabul’s diplomatic relations.
Muttaqi, who is on a diplomatic mission to Türkiye following the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Cameroon, met with Afghan diplomats in Istanbul.
During the meeting, he highlighted recent successes, including the acceptance of Afghan ambassadors by the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and other nations.
He also noted that Afghanistan is expected to see further positive changes in its international relations soon.
Muttaqi criticized the activities of some Afghan diplomatic missions in Europe, accusing them of losing credibility due to insufficient coordination with Kabul.
He emphasized the interim government’s achievements, such as maintaining control over the entire country, combating terrorism, and banning poppy cultivation.
Addressing the consulate staff, Muttaqi urged them to offer better services to Afghans living in Türkiye, stressing that the consulate should be a supportive space for all Afghan nationals, whether they are there for migration, exile, or trade.
