Dushanbe, 17 September 2021 (TDI): On Thursday evening, the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the first day of his visit to Tajikistan.
The bolstering of bilateral ties between the two countries was discussed in the meeting. The President of Iran, in consistency with the country’s foreign policy, sought to cultivate mutually beneficial bilateral ties. He expressed that the two states could strengthen diplomatic and political relations by collaborating in the economic and technical domains.
The Presidents of the two states also discussed the issue of imposition of sanctions and the way forward. The Iranian President emphasized the reinforcement of regional relations to counter-sanctions. Whilst the President of Belarus emphasized the fact that the imposition of sanctions is a globally unsuccessful strategy. Both the leaders affirmed to work jointly to enhance economic ties.
