Deputy Secretary-General of UN visits Afghanistan

Kabul, 19 January 2023 (TDI): Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, and other UN delegations visited Afghanistan as they seek to discuss ways to promote development in the country.

The delegation was led by the Deputy Secretary-General and some other members of the International Energy Agency. They were received by the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The discussed ways to ensure that unity and peace will rain in the country. The delegation started by that; the United Nations (UN) is working keening to bring all forms of development to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has gone through several challenges in the past years due to its crisis with several groups and even linked terrorist groups.

There have been several political instabilities in the country for the past years. The Foreign Minister in his speech stated that he hopes that the delegation will go and project the good image of the country to the whole world.

The Deputy Secretary-General made it known that the UN is determined to promote peace in all other the world and is ready to fight any terrorist activities.

The recent incident that just happened in the country where girls and women were prevented from accessing education in the country is worrying.

She stated that it is a violation of the rights of every human in the country and the world at large. The Taliban group has been in control of the country’s economic and political systems.

Seeking to ensure that peace and democratic rule is returned to the country is what the UN seeks as stated by the Deputy Secretary-General.

Also, the economy of the country has been in shambles due to the constant unrest in the political atmosphere of the country.

They also seek to ensure that they develop strong energy relations with countries that are ready to assist them. It is pertinent to note that Afghanistan’s relations with the UN have not been strong due to many factors.
