Banjul, 1 May 2024 (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, arrived in Banjul, the Gambia to attend the 15th OIC Islamic summit.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, was received by the Gambian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Nani Juwara, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, and the Ambassador of Pakistan at the port.
OIC summits are held to discuss and address major issues that affect the Muslim world. These issues range from political and economic challenges to social and cultural matters.
The promotion of solidarity among the Muslim countries in social and political affairs is one of the main reasons behind such summits.

The 15th OIC Islamic Summit will be hosted in Gambia at Banjul where the representatives from all Islamic countries will meet.
The ongoing genocide in Gaza will be taken under consideration as this is a golden opportunity for the OIC leaders to collectively address this dire situation. A unified stance on the issue of Palestine will be presented to the world.
It is scheduled that during the upcoming summit, the Deputy Prime Minister will communicate the perspective of Pakistan on the crisis going on in Gaza.
Also, the issue of the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu & Kashmir will be conveyed at the summit.

Moreover, he will address global challenges faced by Muslims around the globe like rising Islamophobia. Other important issues like climate crisis and terrorism will be addressed.
A collective solution to these problems will be advocated by Ishaq Dar which the Ummah continues to face.
Alongside the summit, Dar will also engage in bilateral meetings with fellow leaders and foreign ministers which will help strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation with other Islamic countries.
Earlier this year, on February 24, the information ministers of the OIC member condemned the ongoing military aggression and genocide in Gaza, launched by Israel against the Palestinian people and called for an unconditional cease-fire to prevent the loss.
