Copenhagen, 22 September 2021 (TDI): The Danish government has doubled the COVID-19 vaccines donation target.
Earlier this year, the government of Denmark announced to donate 3 million vaccine doses. Now, the government doubled the doses of vaccines from 3 to 6 million. The vaccines will be delivered through COVAX.
Jeppe Kofod, Foreign Minister of Denmark, stated that the COVID pandemic impacts people’s lives like a dark shadow. It is our responsibility to combat this pandemic.
Flemming Moller Mortensen said that In many developing states, vaccine shortage is problematic high. It will have resulted in more outbreaks. COVAX is playing a crucial role in delivering these vaccines to these countries.
Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke stated that the International community, developing countries have needed these vaccines. Denmark has enough stock to survive.
Around 2 million doses will be donated to the 12 African countries. Moreover, 1 million will be provided to the 22 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) through COVAX.
