Islamabad, 11 August 2021 (TDI): Hulusi Akar, Defense Minister of Turkey, met Prime Minister Imran Khan today. Mr. Hulusi Akar is visiting Pakistan as part of frequent high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Turkey to conduct a consultation. PM Imran Khan welcomed the Turkish delegation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized the fraternal historical relationship between Pakistan and Turkey, which is characterized by a unique mutual trust and support. The PM expressed deep concerns about the forest fires in Turkey and expressed Pakistan’s solidarity, and will provide all possible help to deal with this scourge. Imran Khan also expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral defense cooperation between both states. He appreciated the support of Turkey on all issues, especially the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Prime Minister Imran Khan shared Pakistan’s views on the peace process in Afghanistan. The head of state and government of Afghanistan recognizes the importance of international reconciliation as the way forward and the conclusion of a comprehensive political agreement. Turkish Minister conveyed President Erdogan’s best wishes and Turkey’s support for Pakistan on all issues including Jammu and Kashmir. The Defense Minister said that he agreed with Prime Minister Imran Khan to strengthening cooperation in all fields, including national defense, in order to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. He also emphasized Turkey’s efforts to promote a political settlement in Afghanistan.
