Dar Visits Kabul to Sign Tri-Nation Railway Feasibility Framework

Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is visiting Kabul today to sign a framework agreement on the joint feasibility study for the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) Railway Project.

He will be joined by a senior delegation that includes the Minister for Railways, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Afghanistan, and top officials from the Ministry of Railways.

The UAP Railway Project aims to build establish a link to connect Uzbekistan with Pakistan through Afghanistan and facilitate access to Pakistani seaports for Central Asian countries.

By facilitating regional trade and transit, the initiative is likely to promote regional stability, growth and prosperity, the Foreign Office said in a statement.

Dar’s trip highlights the significance Islamabad attaches to the successful realization of the UAP Railway Project.

It reflects Pakistan’s strong support for greater regional cooperation and economic integration.

During the visit, Dar will also meet Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister and call on the country’s acting prime minister. Talks are expected to cover bilateral issues as well as broader regional and international developments.

The UAP railway initiative is seen as a long-term investment in connectivity, stability, and shared growth across South and Central Asia.
