Islamabad (TDI): Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malkiy on Monday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and discussed matters of mutual interests.
During the meeting, they comprehensively discussed bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhance already existing fraternal ties across all sectors, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
Saudi Arabia played a key role in defusing the recent standoff between Pakistan and India.
Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir visited India and Pakistan last week to meet the leadership on both sides and urge them to de-escalate.

Al-Jubeir visited Islamabad at a critical moment as India was continuously provoking nuclear-armed Pakistan following the May 7 missile ttacks with the Pakistan Army intercepting and destroying 77 Israeli-made Harop drones launched by New Delhi to target civilian and military installations.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Saudi minister had conveyed Riyadh’s deep concern over the escalating tensions and reiterated the Kingdom’s call for restraint and the peaceful resolution of all major disputes between Pakistan and India in accordance with international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
