Dar Inaugurates New Pakistan Consulate Chancery in Jeddah

Jeddah (TDI): Dar inaugurates the new chancery building of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah as he engages in discussions during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) extraordinary ministerial session hosted in Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Jeddah, where he was received by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, Saudi Royal Protocol officials, and Pakistan’s Deputy Consul General, along with consulate officers.

During his visit, Dar attended the OIC extraordinary council of Foreign Ministers meeting and inaugurated the new chancery building of the Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah.

The ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Farooq, the Consul General in Jeddah, Syed Mustafa Rabbani, senior Saudi officials, members of the Pakistani community, and consulate officials.

The inauguration ceremony included the hoisting of the Pakistani flag at the new building, a tree plantation on the chancery grounds, the ribbon cutting, the unveiling of a commemorative plague, and prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Those present were also briefed through a short video presentation highlighting the main features of the newly constructed facility.

Addressing the gathering, Dar praised the efforts of the consulate general in Jeddah and thanked Saudi authorities for cooperation in the completion of the project.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring effective and accessible consular services for overseas Pakistanis.

Following the inspection of the premises and its modern amenities, the deputy prime minister expressed satisfaction with the facility and instructed that consular services be shifted to the new chancery at the earliest.

Dar noted that the new chancery located in the region home to around 1.8 million Pakistani expatriates, is expected to improve access and quality of consular services for the overseas community.

On the sidelines of his visit Dar also met with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al Khereiji, where both sides agreed to further strengthen the Pakistan-Saudi strategic partnership and reaffirmed close coordination within the OIC for regional peace, stability, and security.
