Dar Calls for Stronger OIC–UN Partnership to Advance Global Peace

New York (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged closer cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations to help build a culture of peace and tolerance amid growing global conflicts.

Addressing the OIC High-Level Event on Peace and Tolerance in New York, organized to mark the 1500th birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Dar said that such a partnership must focus on promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue, protecting sacred sites and religious symbols, and tackling terrorism and violent extremism in all its manifestations.

He further stressed the need to mobilize humanitarian resources through mechanisms such as Zakat and Waqf, while also emphasizing women’s and youth empowerment through education, science, technology, and active participation in peacebuilding efforts.
