Phnom Penh, 5 October 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz met with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen. Both leaders held official talks to enhance bilateral relations between both states.
The Cuban Prime Minister arrived in Cambodia on the invite of the Cambodian Prime Minister, for a three-day official visit. This visit was planned just days after the Cambodian Prime Minister paid a visit to Cuba from September 23-25.
During that visit, memorandums of understanding (MoU) were signed between both sides regarding their cooperation in the field of health, education, and diplomacy.
Cuba and Cambodia confirmed their commitment to advance their relations by signing cultural and sport sector cooperation agreements.

The Prime Minister of Cuba on his visit to Cambodia also met with the President of the Cambodian Senate Say Chhum, who voiced his support for strong cooperation between the legislative and executive bodies of Cuba and Cambodia.
The Cuban Prime Minister, during the meeting, pledged to foster bilateral relations and cooperation between both states.
Cuba and Cambodia Relations
The diplomatic relations between Cuba and Cambodia were established in 1960. Throughout the six decades, these relations have been one of the legacies of the historic leaders of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia.
The two states being active members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) developed bilateral talks at the highest level. At the international forum, Cambodia continues to support Cuba against the commercial, economic and financial blockade of the United States.

Both the states have close relations and express their support at the multilateral level. Their cultural, economic, diplomatic, and health ties are expanding. The purpose of the official visits is to deepen their ties, primarily through trade links.
The high-level official visits by both states are an affirmation of the commitment to continue their cooperation in the future.
