2nd International Consumer Products Exhibition

The second China International Consumer Products Expo opened in Hainan on Monday 25 July. The expo features an exhibition area of 100,000 square meters, hosting more than 2,800 local and international brands.

The international exhibition area takes up 80 percent of the space, with more than 1,600 brands from 61 countries and regions participating. The expo is expected to run through July 30.

This year’s Expo’s ‘exhibitor categories’ include electronics, cars, yachts, watches, jewelry, high-end wine and health products.

Cuba-China Relations

Cuba and China established diplomatic relations in September of 1960. Since then Cuba has been a good comrade of China, reflecting the shared communist legacy.

The bilateral relations between both states turned sour during the cold war. However, things changed with the collapse of the Soviet Union. With an end to Soviet support in the 1990s, China stepped up for Cuba.

High-level officials from China have visited Cuba 22 times since 1993; Cuban high-level officials have visited China 25 times since 1995.

Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Ma Hui said on May 18, ‘China and Cuba enjoy excellent bilateral relations in keeping with the historic links that unite the two nations.’

China and Cuba are to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

At present, China remains one of Cuba’s main economic partners and technical assistance providers as the two countries expand their cooperation.

China and Cuba share common ideals and continue working to build socialist systems for their people. Over the past few years, there has been an increase in cooperation in the fields of agriculture, biotechnology and public transportation.

This Expo will be a step forward for the development and trade diplomacy between the states.
