The Philippines receives Covid Vaccines from Covax Facility.

Manila, 13 January 2022 (TDI): Yesterday, the Philippines received Covid 19 vaccination doses under the COVAX Facility.

The facility has provided the Philippines with 74 million doses of vaccination. Such an aid consisting of vaccine doses will assist the Philippines in its fights against the Covid-19 Pandemic.

In this line, the southeast Asian country will receive a total of 210 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the COVAX facility. This out of the 74 million doses of vaccination reached in the Philippines, the country received some under direct bilateral donation.

Besides, the development was announced by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines on its Twitter account.

Along these lines, the department affirmed that they will continue working with international partners. Thus, the cooperation will ensure access to vaccination for the people of the Philippines.

The Department also noted that these vaccination doses are the “doses of hope” for the Filipino people. Not to mention that earlier in 2021, the Philippines received 480,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines under COVAX Facility too.

In addition to that, it is important to specify that COVAX is s vaccine alliance of the Gavi, World Health Organization (WHO), and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).

It is also working with UNICEF as well as the World Bank. Aside from civil society organizations, manufacturers, and many other partners that participate in this alliance too.

Moreover, the alliance purposefully accelerate the development and manufacture of Covid-19 Vaccination. It also guarantees fairness and equity in access to the vaccine doses for every country in this world.

To this matter, 192 countries of this huge globe have taken part in this facility to provide vaccination to middle-income countries so far. Out of this figure, 92 countries are eligible for donor-funded doses through the COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC).
