Almaty/Islamabad, 27 May 2022 (TDI): The International Turkic Academy, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and COMSTECH (the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation) held the International “Al-Farabi-Iqbal” event in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
This two-day event began on the 26th of May and concludes on the 27th.

The forum will feature speakers from different OIC nations. Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH took part in the event as well. The event was also attended by a 13-member delegation from COMSTECH, Pakistan, which includes Senator Waleed Iqbal and other professors.

The President of the International Turkic Academy, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, the Chairman-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, and officials from international organizations launched the event.
Scholars from Turkic nations and OIC member states, leaders of the intelligentsia, diplomatic and legislative corps members, and specialists attended the event. The sessions took place both virtually and in person which the guests attended.
Books presented at the forum:
Several books were presented at the forum, including the proceedings of the “Al-Farabi Global Forum” held in Islamabad in 2020, in English, Kazakh, and Russian languages. In addition, there was Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s book “Reconstruction of Islamic Thought” in Azerbaijani, Al-book Farabi’s “El-Farabi Kitabu’l Musika’l-Kebir” in Turkish, and “Encyclopedia of Iqbal” in Urdu.
Plenary sessions were held on “Iqbal’s Philosophy: Past, Present, and Future,” “The Global Impact of Iqbal’s Philosophy and Poetry,” and “The Challenges of the Twenty-First Century and Technology.”
The researchers
The seminars were attended by important scientists and specialists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Russia, Tajikistan, and OIC member countries, who presented research findings.
It is also worth noting that in 2020, COMSTECH hosted a large-scale Al-Farabi event in Islamabad. The “Al-Farabi-Iqbal” forum has been arranged in compliance with the terms reached in that forum and the guidelines made by Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, on promoting science and technology at the VIII Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
This conference is the first large-scale gathering to highlight Al-Farabi and Iqbal’s contributions to world science and intellectual and spiritual concord.
