Islamabad (TDI): Stressing the youth leadership importance for a resilient and inclusive Commonwealth, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday said that Pakistan is going forward with strong commitment for empowering youth.
He was speaking at the Commonwealth Intergenerational Dialogue held in Samoa.
Dar said that Pakistan is committed to provide platforms that empower youth to take on leadership roles.
The Deputy Prime Minister cited initiatives like the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in Pakistan, which has supported millions of young people in education, employment, and engagement.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts in youth empowerment, including the revision of the Commonwealth Youth Programme Memorandum of Understanding (CYP-MOU) and the launch of the Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance (CAYA).
Realizing that young people are not only the leaders of future but are also actively contributing to policymaking today. The foreign minister commended the contributions of young leaders in climate action and driving digital innovation.
He urged Commonwealth leaders to embrace the youth as partners in building a stronger, more sustainable future and called for continued intergenerational collaboration to ensure lasting progress for the Commonwealth community.
Earlier an official statement had said that Deputy Prime Minister Dar will also engage with the heads of delegations of other Commonwealth member states at the CHOGM.

Ishaq Dar will also presents Pakistan’s perspectives on key global issues and challenges with a focus on climate change, economic development, and strengthening international cooperation within the Commonwealth community.
Pakistan’s participation at CHOGM 2024 reflects its continued commitment to the Commonwealth and its relations with Small Islands Pacific Countries, the statement said.
