Bogota, 14 September 2022 (TDI): Assistant Secretary of Health of the US, Loyce Pace paid an official visit to Colombia. Assistant Secretary Pace met the new Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Colombian Republic, Carolina Corcho.

Assistant Secretary Loyce Pace announced that the US and Colombia had built their relations over the basis of extensive partnership. She also added that the partnership is decades-long and has shared priorities in the sector of health and medical sciences.
Colombia and the US agreed on the point that both sides will conduct joint measures to bring global health equity. The two sides also agreed on bolstering cooperation in the healthcare sector in the Americas.
Moreover, the Colombian Minister for Health, Corcho also appreciated the US Assistant Secretary for support. She also added that both sides have agreed to work on a collective basis.
She added that the American and Colombian sides will work on sexual and reproductive health, legal normal for promoting global health preparedness, enhancing primary healthcare, and dealing with the pandemics.

US support for combatting AIDS
During Additional Secretary Pace’s visit to Colombia, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a collaboration with the Health Ministry of Colombia as well as the organization “Aid for AIDS Colombia”. The officials of the US department appreciated the efforts for AIDS.
Other organizations fighting AIDS and other sexual diseases on Colombian soil were also appreciated for their work. These organizations are already engaging community-based leaders to spread awareness and prevention techniques regarding AIDS.
Further, the US and Colombia are partners in the sector of healthcare production, research, and cooperation. The two sides had celebrated 30 years of healthcare and medical cooperation at the US Embassy in Bogota.
The US also supported the provision of vast funds and expertise along with vaccinations to combat Covid-19 in Colombia.
In addition, the two sides also agreed to continue their cooperation through the Institute of Food and Drug Surveillance (FDA), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
