Beijing (TDI): China has reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the security of Chinese nationals and projects in the country.
The commitment came during a high-level meeting in Beijing on Thursday between Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Wang, who is also a senior member of the Communist Party’s top leadership and heads the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, described the Pakistan-China partnership as “ironclad” and rooted in long-standing trust. He called Pakistan a top priority in China’s regional diplomacy.
Congratulating General Munir on his recent promotion to the rank of Field Marshal, Wang praised the Pakistan Army as a vital institution defending national sovereignty and an enduring pillar of the bilateral relationship.
He said China had full confidence in the role of Pakistan’s military in safeguarding mutual interests and furthering the strategic goals shared by both countries.
