COAS Rejects Indian Claims of External Input in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos

Rawalpindi (TDI): Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday firmly rejected Indian claims that Pakistan received external support during the recent cross-border conflict, calling the assertions “irresponsible and factually incorrect.”

Speaking at the National Defense University (NDU) in Islamabad, the army chief dismissed remarks made by senior Indian officials, including Lieutenant General Rahul Singh, who alleged last week that China had provided Pakistan with “live inputs” on Indian military positions during the conflict.

“These insinuations about external involvement in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos reflect a chronic reluctance to acknowledge Pakistan’s indigenous military capability and institutional resilience, which have been developed over decades of strategic discipline and prudence,” Field Marshal Munir said.

Lt. Gen. Rahul Singh, speaking at a defense event in New Delhi, had claimed that China provided “real-time support” to Pakistan during the standoff, stating that Islamabad was aware of India’s troop movements due to Chinese input. However, he offered no details on how India verified this claim.

Field Marshal Munir refuted these allegations, saying India’s failure to achieve its objectives during Operation Sindoor had led to baseless attempts to deflect attention.

“Dragging other nations into a bilateral military engagement is a crude attempt at camp politics, a move aimed at reinforcing India’s narrative as a so-called net security provider in a region increasingly exhausted by its hegemonic posturing and extremist Hindutva-driven agenda,” he said.

Reiterating Pakistan’s firm stance on national defense, the army chief warned against any future misadventures or aggression.

“Any attack on our population centers, military assets, economic infrastructure, or ports will be met with a deeply hurting and more than reciprocal response,” he said. “The responsibility for escalation will rest solely on the aggressor who fails to comprehend the consequences of provoking a sovereign nuclear power.”

He further emphasized that wars are not won with media narratives, imported high-tech weaponry, or populist slogans, but through conviction, professional competence, operational clarity, institutional strength, and national resolve.

In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Munir praised the resilience and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and urged the graduating officers to embody integrity, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the nation.
