Rawalpindi, 9 November 2021 (TDI): General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has reaffirmed the urgent need for global cooperation on Afghanistan to avoid a humanitarian crisis.
He was speaking with Marta Morgan, Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister, who paid him a visit in Rawalpindi on Monday, 8th November.
During the meeting, topics of mutual interest were covered, as well as bilateral cooperation in different fields, the overall regional situation, and collaboration on humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Army Chief stated that the country wishes to continue its bilateral engagement tradition and preserve a long-term, multi-domain relationship with Canada.
The visiting dignitary hailed Pakistan’s contribution to the evacuation operation in Afghanistan, regional stability, and promised to continue to deepen diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
Marta Morgan, Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister, is undertaking visit to Pakistan for attending 4th round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Canada. It was held on Sunday, 7 November in Islamabad. Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood led the Pakistani side, while the Canadian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Morgan. A wide range of bilateral matters, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest including Afghanistan, were discussed during the BPC.
