New York, 16 December 2023 (TDI): General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff Pakistan, during his ongoing visit to the United States of America called on Secretary General United Nations, Antonio Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York today.
Secretary General United Nations warmly welcomed the visit by the Army Chief and appreciated the contributions made by the Pakistan Army and contingents of the Law Enforcement Agencies who have remained committed to the peace and stability of the world.
In response, General Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the continuous support of Pakistan to the United Nations in all its earnest efforts.
The Army Chief during his meeting particularly highlighted the ongoing issues of Kashmir and Palestine, especially Gaza.
Army Chief underscored the importance of peace in South Asia and said that peace in the region will remain elusive until a peaceful solution to the longstanding Kashmir Dispute is found according to resolutions of United Nations Security Council and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
The Chief of Army Staff also condemned unilateral and illegal efforts of Indian government and Supreme Court to change the status of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that it is in violation of the resolutions of United Nations Security Council.
Furthermore, the Army chief reiterated the position of Pakistan on the issue of Palestine and urged the Security Council to mobilize the international community for the immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza.

He specifically highlighted that the enduring solution to the issue of Israel and Palestine lies in the two-state solution.
General Syed Asim Munir shared deep concerns over the plight of innocent civilians being brutally targeted and not provided with sufficient humanitarian relief.
The Secretary General United Nations acknowledged the concerns raised by the military chief and thanked General Syed Asim Munir for the visit to the United Nations Headquarters
