Chinese President Xi Jinping in Vietnam for state visit

Beijing, 12 December 2023 (TDI): Chinese President and CPC Central Committee General Secretary Xi Jinping arrived in Vietnam for a state visit, at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Vo Van Thuong.

President Xi Jinping was welcomed by hundreds of civilians and high authorities at Hanoi International Airport for the third time. President Xi emphasized that Vietnam is a significant ASEAN member and a significant member in Southeast Asia.

Under the CPV’s direction, the Vietnamese have been actively investigating a development route that fits their unique national circumstances and pushing the cause of Doi Moi on all fronts in recent years.

Moreover, President Xi says that Vietnam’s domestic and global reputation is gradually improving.

President Xi Jinping and the General Secretary expressed his hope that the visit will certainly provide an opportunity to engage in a thorough discussion with Vietnamese leaders on broad and strategic issues.

It will impact the future of their countries’ relationship as well as on global and regional points of shared interest, with the ultimate goal of advancing their bilateral relationship to a new level.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, President Xi spouse and entourage; Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and director of the CPC Central Committee’s General Office; Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Wang Xiaohong, secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Secretariat and Minister of Public Security, arrived on the same plane.

The procession of President Xi Jinping passed red banners commemorating the long-standing friendship between China and Vietnam and strengthening ties of brotherhood and camaraderie as they made their way from the airport to the hotel.

The flags of the two parties and countries flanked the streets. A large crowd gathered in the streets, greeting the visit of President Xi Jinping and General Secretary of China with flags from both countries.
