Paris, 21 June 2023 (TDI): On Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang reiterated a three-point proposal on China and France’s cooperation during his speech at a dinner with the Chinese and French business communities in Paris.
Li said that China and France altogether, should maintain the security and stability of the global industrial and supply chain, strengthen cooperation on innovation and foster a sound business environment.
Jointly maintaining the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains
Premier Li commended the French government for opposing the bloc confrontations, decoupling and severing industrial and supply chains. He then urged entrepreneurs from both sides to support the inevitable economic globalization and promote cooperation by engaging in open dialogue and communication and working together to ensure the stability and resilience of the industrial and supply chains between China and France, as well as between China and Europe.
Strengthening cooperation on innovation
Li highlighted the successful technological exchanges between China and France in areas such as; medicine, new energy batteries, semiconductors, etc. Premier Li emphasized the opportunity for more collaboration in advanced manufacturing, modern services, green transformation, and the digital economy.
Having said that, Premier Li called for increased innovation and technological cooperation between enterprises from both countries to drive China-France cooperation and foster new areas of growth.
Fostering a sound business environment
Premier Li expressed China’s commitment to deepening reforms, expanding opening up, and facilitating market access in sectors like modern services. He pledged to enhance intellectual property rights protection, establish a market-oriented business environment with a strong legal framework, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of foreign companies in China.
Li then welcomed French companies to actively participate in the China International Import Expo and encouraged entrepreneurs from both countries to enhance confidence, seize opportunities, and collaborate to achieve greater development and foster stable and long-term cooperation between “China and France” and between “China and Europe.”

Moreover, Li also met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris, where both sides showed their commitment to promoting cooperation between the two countries.
