Berlin, 18 June 2023 (TDI): Chinese Premier Li Qiang has arrived in Berlin for an official visit to Germany, during which he will also preside over the 7th China-Germany inter-governmental consultations.
This visit marks Li’s first overseas trip since assuming office as Chinese premier and aims to strengthen the longstanding friendship between the two nations and deepen their cooperation.
In commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier exchanged congratulations and engaged in a telephone conversation, providing strategic guidance for bilateral ties, as highlighted by Premier Li.
Over the years, China and Germany have witnessed steady progress in their relationship, with continuous deepening and expansion of bilateral cooperation. Notable achievements have been made in various fields, including economy and trade, technology, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, as well as green development.
The upcoming China-Germany inter-governmental consultation holds particular significance as it marks the first comprehensive interaction between the newly formed governments of both countries.
During his visit to Germany, Premier Li will hold meetings with German President Steinmeier and jointly chair the seventh China-Germany inter-governmental consultation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
He will also participate in the China-Germany Economic and Technical Cooperation Forum and a round table for Chinese and German entrepreneurs, meet with representatives from German industrial and business communities and visit companies in Bavaria state.

Premier Li’s visit began with his departure from Beijing on June 18. He was invited by Chancellor Scholz and the French government for the seventh China-Germany inter-governmental consultation and an official visit, followed by an official visit to France and attendance at the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact on June 22-23.
