Beijing, 13 December 2021 (TDI): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi slammed the Summit For Democracy hosted by the United States. He stated that the US is undermining the true spirit of democracy in the name of democracy.
Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized that there are different approaches for the practice of democracy. But some people think that the Western model of democracy is the only true way to practice democracy. Some want to forcibly impose on the whole world. This approach is creating ideological lines and divisions in the world, he added.

Wang Yi highlighted the Summit for Democracy hosted by the United States. He said that the propaganda by the US in the name of democracy has failed not only globally but also domestically.
Wang underscored that the freedom of public opinion in a country determines if that country is a true democracy or not. Therefore, every country can have a democratic system according to the need and demands of its people. Hence no one should try to impose its democratic system on any other state in the name of human rights.
Chinese Foreign Minister condemns external interference in the name of democracy
The Chinese Foreign Minister pointed out that intervening in internal affairs of other states in the name of democracy and human rights has brought nothing but catastrophic results in those countries. Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan Yemen, and Libya are still dealing with the chaos caused by the intervention of external forces in the name of true democracy. These steps are undermining the true spirit of democracy, he added.
Wang urged the United Nations to oppose such interventions in the name of democracy which causes instability unrest. The UN should not support such actions which undermine national sovereignty.
He made these remarks in his article which was published in state media People’s Daily on Sunday, 12 December 2021. He emphasized that the Asian model of democracy should be promoted in the world which is characterized by cooperation and negotiation.
