Chinese Ambassador to UN meets Director of UN Women

New York, 24 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Zhang Jun met with the Executive Director of the UN Women Sima Bahous.

China is the host country of the Fourth World Conference on Women. It aims for gender equality and women’s development. It promotes women’s rights in the world.

China has also been a strong supporter of gender equality. It aims to end gender discrimination. United Nations is also working for promoting women’s rights in the world. The UN has been working for women’s empowerment in the world. It does not recognize a country that suppresses women’s rights.

Sima Bahous is leading the UN Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN-Women). She has 35 years of experience working for women’s rights. China is collaborating with the UN to eliminate gender discrimination from the world. In this regard, the Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Zhang Jun met with the Executive Director of the UN Women Sima Bahous.

In his meeting the Sima Bahous, Zhang stated that China is committed to promoting women’s rights in the world. Being an important partner of the United Nations, China will continue to collaborate with the UN to promote gender equality. It is also committed to working with the UN Women for women empowerment, he added.

He stressed that no woman or girl should be left behind because no society and no country can progress without the progress of its women. Therefore, the development of women in a society is inevitable for the progress and prosperity of a country.

Sima Bahous also emphasized the need to eliminate gender discrimination from the world. She stated that the UN is committed to making the world better for women to live. The UN aims to create a global community based on gender equality, she added. Therefore, it would continue to work for women’s empowerment to end the gender-based violence from the world.
