Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania meeting with Tanzanian Foreign Minister

Dodoma, 5 August 2022 (TDI): The Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian met with the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Liberata Mulamula.

The Chinese Ambassador and the Foreign Minister of Tanzania discussed the long-lasting friendship between China and Tanzania. Together with bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Tanzania supports One-China Policy

Most importantly, Tanzania firmly adheres to the one-China policy and supports China’s stance on issues concerning China’s core interests.

“Tanzania remains committed to the principles & consensus that guide our relations with China & will always support China’s core interests, including the One China Policy which recognizes Taiwan as an inalienable part of China,” Tanzania’s Foreign Minister said.

China-Tanzania Cooperation

The 8th FOCAC Ministerial conference was held in November 2021. During the opening ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China and African countries have jointly prepared the China-Africa Vision 2035.

Therefore, under the first three-year plan of the Vision, China will work closely with African countries. Specifically to implement nine programs that were welcomed and supported by Tanzania.

In line with the implementation of the nine programs, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi held a meeting with the Tanzanian Foreign Minister.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation under the framework of FOCAC. That is, to push for the implementation of the nine programs in Tanzania, and produce more concrete results.

Furthermore, the two sides discussed the 6th meeting of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission.

In line with the progress of China-Tanzania practical cooperation, a batch of 3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines was donated by China in Tanzania on July 14th.

Furthermore, the Kagera Regional Vocational Training and Service Center has been built with assistance from China. Thus, the Center has completed technical project acceptance.

In June, the National Occupational Standards Review and Development Project was launched and China will be participating in the development of occupational standards and related talent development plans.

The Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister highlighted the Tazara spirit in 2015, which is a spirit about mutual respect and equality. As well as about tenacity and perseverance, and selfless internationalism.

Noteworthy, the Tazara spirit embodies the memorable moments of friendly exchanges between China, Tanzania, and Zambia.
