Geng appreciated the resumption of the Iranian Nuclear Talks. He stated that the withdrawal of the US from the Nuclear Deal in 2018 affected the negotiation process badly. He pointed out that the world is looking forward to the Nuclear Talks. The world hopes for positive results from the negotiation which will put an end to the uncertainty of peace and stability of the region.
The Chinese Ambassador to the UN urged that the parties must reach a joint statement in the political dialogue. All the parties should remain committed to the political solution of the issue. The political differences of the parties should not be allowed to harm the negotiation process, he added.
The US should lift unilateral sanctions from Iran
Geng also demanded the US to lift the unilateral sanctions from Iran. He stressed that the US must remove sanctions to advance the Nuclear Talks on the right path. The US should show its positive attitude for the talks by lifting the unilateral sanctions, he added.
He urged all the relevant parties of the Nuclear Deal to create a favorable environment for the success of the negotiation. He stated that the threats by any party during the negotiation process will undermine the efforts for the success of the JCPOA.
The Chinese ambassador highlighted that peace and stability of the world are directly proportional to the peace and stability of the Middle East. Likewise, the peace and stability of the Middle East depend upon the success of the Iranian Nuclear Deal. Therefore, the success of the JCPOA is crucial for regional peace and stability.
