Chinese Ambassador delivers speech on 80th anniversary of Flying Tigers

Washington, 17 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang delivered a speech on the 80th anniversary of the Flying Tigers to China.

Flying Tigers were the first American Volunteer Air Force Group to flee to China to help it in its resistance war against Japan. Flying tigers helped China in its resistance in 1941 against the Japanese invasion in World War 2.

The Chinese Ambassador stated that the Sino-US friendship was established by the flying tigers by their blood which has passed from one generation to the other.

He said that the two countries should forget their differences and should look upon their historical relations. The two countries can deal with the challenges in their bilateral relations by respecting each other mutually.

US-China should follow Flying Tiger’s spirit to strengthen cooperation

The ambassador also gave the example of the Flying Tigers to deal with global challenges such as Climate change and the Coronavirus pandemic.

He said that the world needs the Flying Tigers type of cooperation in this world to deal with unprecedented challenges.

Fourteen American pilots sacrificed their lives to help China. The Flying Tigers destroyed 296 enemy aircraft in their mission. The success of the Flying Tigers in destroying the Japanese boosted the morale of the Chinese for independence.

The Chinese Ambassador stated that China and the U.S. have more responsibilities due to being the leading states in the world. Therefore, they need to cooperate for a peaceful and prosperous world. Their cooperation is not just in the interests of the two states but also in the interests of the world.

He stressed that the two countries need to carry forward the legacy of the Flying Tigers to deal with the unprecedented global challenges.
