Islamabad, 29 December 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong addressed the Award Ceremony 2021 for Outstanding Pakistani Staff of the CPEC Projects. Whilst addressing the occasion, the Ambassador wished a Happy New Year to everyone.
He highlighted that Pakistan and China are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Moreover, this year the two also experienced the deepening of all-around collaboration.
Ambassador Nong Rong emphasized that 2021 has been particularly good for CPEC and related projects despite the pandemic situation. In that regard, he thanked the Minister of Planning of Pakistan, Asad Umar and SAPM on CPEC Affairs, Khalid Mansoor, and Ying Xiong, the Chairman of All Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’s Association.
The Chinese Ambassador pointed out that CPEC has always been the focus of China and Pakistan. This has been underscored time and again when in May 2021, the leaders of the two countries exchanged congratulatory messages for the 70-year anniversary or in July when the third China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue took place.
Another example in this context is when in October, the Chinese President called the Prime Minister of Pakistan. During the phone call, the two leaders expressed their willingness to collaborate for the progress of CPEC.
This will be done via the promotion of agricultural cooperation, people’s livelihood, and digital economy to benefit local people along with comprehensively building industrial, trade, health, digital, and green corridors.
In addition, the Chinese Ambassador reminisced about the successful 10th JCC meeting to set the path for future collaboration. He expressed satisfaction on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s attaching great significance to the CPEC.
Nong Rong pointed out that the practical measures adopted by the Pakistani Prime Minister have injected better confidence in the development of the CPEC.
Furthermore, he accentuated the successful launch of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone, the efficient work to complete the north part of the Gwadar Free Zone, the Matiari-Lahore HVDC Transmission Line, storage of water at the Karot Hydropower Project, and the completion of Gwadar Technical and Vocational Institute
Ambassador Nong Rong stressed that these developments brought by the CPEC will generate more jobs, improve incomes and enhance skills. On a greater scale, they will enable Pakistan’s economic as well as social development, along with promoting industrialization and urbanization and enhancing the connectivity of the nation as well as the region in its entirety.
The achievements of the CPEC were made possible with joint efforts of staff from both countries. He enunciated that the CPEC staff is not only the constructors and participants of the CPEC but also the ‘witnesses and promoters of history.’
The Chinese Ambassador specifically commended the 27 outstanding Pakistani staff who participated in the award ceremony as outstanding representatives. He further stated that,
“On the occasion of the end of this year, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, I would like to extend my warm congratulations to the winners of the award for outstanding Pakistani staff! At the same time, I would like to thank the CPEC companies and all their employees, as well as the All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprise Association, represented by Mr. Yang Jianduo, for the efforts made for the smooth advancement of the CPEC!”
He concluded by underlining that the CPEC provides a wide platform for people to demonstrate their talents and realize personal values, as a landmark project of China-Pakistan cooperation in the new era and a thriving regional economic cooperation platform.
Moreover, he expressed optimism that the Chinese and Pakistani staff will value the prospects, contribute to the construction of the “CPEC with practical actions, and continue to consolidate the iron friendship between China and Pakistan.”
Lastly, he congratulated all the award winners and hailed the China-Pakistan partnership by chanting Chin-Pak Dosti Zindabad!
