Beijing/Ankara, 25 August 2022 (TDI): Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, talked to Mustafa Sentop, the speaker of the parliament of Turkiye, via a video call, on Wednesday.
Both parties agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and exchanges.

Remarks by China’s NPC Chairman
The chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Li Zhanshu, highlighted that cooperation in numerous fields has advanced under the direction of the two heads of state.
He added, that China is ready to cooperate with Türkiye to fully implement the significant accord reached by the two heads of state.
Moreover, Li Zhanshu emphasized that to advance China-Turkey ties, mutual political trust and support should be further developed. He stated that China respects Türkiye’s decision to follow a particular development path in light of its national circumstances.
Moreover, he emphasized that China is committed to supporting Türkiye in its fight against terrorism and also stands firmly behind Türkiye in preserving national sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The Chinese leader expressed gratitude to Turkiye for its protracted dedication to the one-China policy. Further, Li Zhanshu urged Turkiye to actively support and take part in the Global Peace Initiative proposed by China.
He praised Turkiye for being the first nation to sign an intergovernmental agreement with China on Belt and Road cooperation.
Moreover, he emphasized that the two parties must further organize their development plans, and advance mutual economic trade, investment, and other forms of cooperation.
Remarks by Turkish Parliament Speaker
Mustafa Sentop, on his part, said that Turkiye places a high value on fostering friendly ties with China and firmly supports the One-China policy.
He added, that Turkiye is eager to continually increase cooperation with China in various sectors including the Belt and Road Initiative, commerce and investment, culture, and health.
Lastly, he said that the Turkish Grand National Assembly aims to enhance communications with China’s National People’s Congress and cooperate to foster advancements in Turkish-Chinese ties.
