Beijing (TDI): China has welcomed the upcoming visit of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, emphasizing the importance of continuing strong bilateral ties.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during a phone call with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Wednesday.
Wang said that under the guidance of both countries’ leaders, China-South Korea relations have recovered from previous setbacks and are now on a steady, positive trajectory.
He expressed confidence that President Lee’s visit would further strengthen the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership.

Highlighting this year as the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Wang underscored the importance of maintaining a correct historical perspective.
He stressed that South Korea should adopt a responsible stance toward history and uphold international justice, including adherence to the one-China principle regarding Taiwan.

In response, Cho reaffirmed that President Lee places high importance on cooperation with China and remains committed to deepening the strategic partnership.
He noted that South Korea is ready to coordinate closely with China to ensure a smooth and successful visit, and reiterated that the country’s commitment to the one-China principle remains unchanged.
