Bali, 16 November 2022 (TDI): The President of China, Cyril Ramaphosa, and Xi Jinping, the President of China had a bilateral meeting at the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
It is pertinent to note, the President of South Africa has maintained a strong bilateral relationship with China all these years.
During the meeting, the Chinese President reiterated that China will continue to stand by South Africa and is ready to work with them to move China-South Africa ties forward toward a deeper level with higher quality and broader scope.
Likewise, President Cyril Ramaphosa has continued to show his interest in working with the government of China. The meeting between both Presidents seeks to strengthen their diplomatic ties.
Also, Xi Jinping indicated that both countries are important developing countries and are resolute in ensuring that justice and fairness are carried out in the international community.
He also reaffirmed the fact that they will continue to help each other and other developing countries. In addition, China is willing to have a wider exchange with South Africa when it comes to governance for it to be able to control its affairs.
Both countries have been members of the G20 for all these years and South Africa one of the advanced countries of Africa has continued to reach out to China for all ties.
G20 Leaders’ Summit
The G20 Leaders’ Summit is happening in Bali, Indonesia on the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”. This is set to ensure that, countries assist each other in recovering from the pandemic and other economic challenges.
All leaders participating at the Summit gathered and undertook a tree planting exercise at the Mangrove Forest, Taman Hiram Rays to show their commitment to the climate change fight and economic recovery.
